Alan Collard (Chairman)

Alan has lived in Toppesfield for over 40 years. Alan was also a founder member of the management committees of both Toppesfield Community Pub Limited and Toppesfield Community Stores. He is a banker by background and was a Managing Director at JP Morgan Chase before retiring. Currently Alan provides advisory services to groups seeking to develop community businesses. Alan is a Non-executive member of the board of Colne Housing Society Limited, a trustee of The Nancy Salmon Trust and a trustee of 4 Toppesfield charities.

Mike James (Vice-Chairman)

Mike has lived in the village for over 50 years. Mike has been involved with several village organisations and, inter alia, assisted Toppesfield Stores on its VAT position when it was set up. He worked for the Customs & Excise for many years before becoming the Group VAT Manager for Whitbread plc. Subsequently Mike moved to the Educational division within Pearson plc where he was responsible for their VAT management before retiring in 2014. He was for several years the chair of the VAT In Industry Group. Mike was also founder member of the Management Committee of Toppesfield Community Pub Limited and is a Parish Councillor in Toppesfield.

Dave Dyson

Dave has lived in the village for over 20 years. He has been a very active member of the community and is a former Chair and current Vice-chair of Toppesfield Parish Council, was a founder member of the group that established Toppesfield Community Stores in 2002 and a founder member and Vice-chair of Toppesfield Community Pub between 2012 and 2017. Before retiring Dave was Deputy Chief Executive of Brentwood District Council.

Richard Evers

Richard has lived in Toppesfield for over 25 years. Before retirement he provided marketing communications services to clients including: Denplan, Foyles, Greene King, Mercedes-Benz and Royal London. He is a former Chair of the Braintree Industrial Consultative Council and is a Governor of St. Margaret’s School in Toppesfield.

John Fitch (Treasurer)

Although John does not currently live in the village, he did live there for almost 50 years up to 1996, in that time he was a member and chairman of both the Parish Council and School Governors. He currently lives nearby at Tilbury Green. Since leaving the village John has maintained close links with Toppesfield and is a shareholder in the Brewery and his wife Philippa a shareholder in TCP. John’s career has been spent working for Hi-tech companies involving a range of technologies. He has a strong background in production organisation, techniques, process and the systems that support them. John is also a very practical “hands-on” person.

Chris Neale

Chris has lived in Toppesfield for 4 years. He was attracted to the village due to its sense of community and has family close by. Chris enjoys being involved in village life. Chris has worked at BT for almost 20 years and is currently a Major Incident Manager dealing with major service affecting failures on the entire BT network. His role means he is able to stay calm in stressful situations. Chris has excellent broad IT skills and practical problem-solving skills thanks to his original training as an engineer.

Kaaren Berry

Kaaren is the Brewery’s Company Secretary. Although living in neighbouring Great Yeldham, Kaaren is very active in Toppesfield as Clerk to the Parish Council and Company Secretary to both Toppesfield Community Stores and Toppesfield Community Pub. Kaaren is also actively involved in a local Brownie group which she leads.
